John Hooper BSC. Cinematographer and Artist. Born and educated in Bristol. Studied Painting and design at the West of England Academy. National Diploma of Design 1958. National Service, filming atomic tests on Christmas Island in the Pacific

On returning from National Service moved to London, joined BBC Film Unit at Ealing Studios. Travelled the world filming feature films, arts documentaries and drama.

Arts documentaries with David Hockney, Bob Dylan, Robert Frost, John Hoyland to Joan Miro. To Schalcken the Painter, The Scarlet Pimpernel with Richard E Grant, The Hour of The Pig with Colin Firth, A Question of Attribution with James Fox, Boulevard Haussmann by Alan Bennett with Alan Bates, Hostages with Kathy Burke and Colin Firth, Bluebeard’s Castle, to Poison Candy with John Hurt. John won the RTS award for lighting and camera work in BBC’s ‘Cariani and the Courtesans’
